Sometimes when learning the guitar, you feel like you have become stuck. Most likely in the beginning stages you focused on the left hand making chords or playing notes on the fretboard. There are some right hand guitar techniques that are a little more intermediate that you could start to focus on to become a better player.

Muting – Muting is where the right palm mutes individual strings or all the strings. It’s done by laying the right palm across all the strings lower on the guitar then stretching your fingers with your pick and still strumming or picking at the guitar. This changes the sound that you produce significantly. It’s gives more of a rough and silent sound that is useful for certain songs. It’s also makes the strings individually have a distinct difference.

Picking – Whether you are picking while muting or picking alone you can try advanced picking exercises. This would be creating a random pattern to follow as you try to increase your speed without losing accuracy. You can also invest some time into finger picking. While this is associated with classical styles or bluegrass, it’s another avenue to train the right hand.

Wammy Bar – A wammy bar gives an electric guitar a very different sound than anything else. This is a fun technique. It helps if you are good at tapping with the left hand so that you can bend the sound with the wammy bar. The only thing not liked about them is that your guitar goes out of tune fairly quickly.

Finger Style Techniques – There are many different ways of picking the guitar with your fingers. Some use thumb picks and finger picks while you can also just use your natural fingers as well. There are many styles that you can learn for this technique. Any of them will give you a new challenge.

If you are past the beginner stages of guitar, you need something more complicated to help you get better. Learn what techniques will challenge you while you learn how to play.

Once you have learned the basics of how to play the violin for beginners, which is about the positioning of you and the violin, it is time to start learning actually how to play it. You need to learn both bowing and fingering positions when it comes to the violin.

There are two different ways to get notes out of the violin and you will need to learn both to correctly learn how to play the violin for beginners. The first is playing by plucking the strings, which is known as pizzicato and will be written like this on your sheet of music. When it comes to plucking the strings, you should be careful not to do it with your fingernails and always use the pads of your fingers – usually your index and middle fingers.

Now it comes to learning to play with the bow. You will need to tighten the bow hair before you start but you should always ensure that you do not tighten it too much – too much tension leads to scratchy sounds. It will take some time to get a proper note when you first use the bow so be prepared to practice.

When you hold the bow, most of the pressure should be on your index finger, which sits on the top of the bow. You thumb and other fingers are used to stabilize it. Even your little finger will be needed to stabilize the bottom of the bow. You should place your thumb in the corner of the bow and keep your fingers light while using it.

When you start using the bow, you want to concentrate on the sound that you are getting out. The tone should be clear and this will take a lot of long movements to get the positioning of the bow right. You will need a little bit of pressure on the strings but try not to use too much – you will need to be the judge so that you get the sound that you have wanted.

Your left hand is in charge of determining the notes that you will be playing. This is one of the hardest parts of playing the violin because it can take time to learn exactly where you should be placing your fingers. Each finger width will determine the notes and you need to remember that there are sharps and flats (the black notes on the piano) that you will need to think about too.

You will need to apply some pressure to the strings so that you definitely get the right note and you should use the pad of your fingertips again. Curve your hand to make it easier to only catch the strings that you want, rather than the other strings around it.

These are just the basics on how to play the violin for beginners – the more that you play, the more you will need to learn. These are the hardest things that you will learn so you will need to ensure that these are perfect before moving onto something else.

To be candid, the overall process of making hip hop beats seems interesting and frustrating at the same time, but not for everyone. In fact, experts across the globe are following certain
steps that are beautifully assisting them to make a HipHop beat in the best possible manner. And to know those steps, you ought to read on…

1. Choose your style- Initially; you’ve to decide the style in which you want to make a beat. Once it’s decided, half of the battle is won.

2. Select an Artist- While making a beat; simply think of a HipHop artist whom you want to dedicate your beat. This will certainly turn the entire process of making a HipHop beat easier for you.

3. Listen to HipHop Songs- Simply listen to the tracks of your best HipHop artist and try to follow the beats they have included in their tracks.

4. Song Formatting: Create a comprehensive format of your song, which will include the intro, verse, chorus, verse, bridge, etc. However, to make it yours, you ought to change the order.
To get some knowledge, simply listen to the songs on Radio to see how the professional artists format their songs.

5. Lay down the beat- For the starters, there is a pattern to follow if they want to make a hip hop beat. Simply go with the drums. Also, the kick, snare, Hi hat, are good for a start. Try to
record a particular pattern in four bars, then simply layer that with toms, cow-bell, symbols, etc. Remember, drums are the most vital part of your hip hop beats that you can’t afford to lose at any point in time.

6. Lay down the Melody- This is the most crucial step in the making of a hip hop beat as most of the composers can’t play the keys. Starters must learn keyboard if they dream to become
a performer or make a hip hop beat for the hip hop aficionados. Also, using instruments like a lead guitar, horns, clav will assist you to make an amazing hip hop beat.

7. Layering the Beat- It’s is indeed an important step that composers ought to keep in mind while making the beat. Once the making is finished, layer the beat to make it sound bigger.
Fill the gaps, do the patterns that you did with varied instruments. It will make a hip hop beat sound fatter.

8. Panning- This is all about keeping an instrument to the right, to the left, and also somewhere in between. Truthfully, there are different reasons to pan. Panning gives some space to each
track in the stereo field. There are no rules related to panning, so just try it and do the best.

9. Mix down- Very important to make a best hip hop beat. Poor mixing will ruin all your efforts that you’ve invested in the aforementioned steps. So just do the best job here.

10. Bouncing- Now you made a hip hop beat and it’s time to upload it on the internet and make a CD. Simply go ahead with this process carefully.

Recently, the 17th anniversary of the death of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain, who killed himself in 1994 with a shotgun, passed. Like a number of his rock forefathers, Cobain was spared the indignity of having to stay relevant as he grew older and musical tastes changed around him. Instead, he succumbed to his demons and inadvertently became another of the cottage industry of deceased celebrities. However, one thing that does not get discussed as often regarding the passing of the tortured artist is the fact that when he chose to end his life, he also left behind a one-year old daughter. He did leave her in the capable hands of her formerly drug addicted mother. Courtney Love, at least, was a good enough mother, however, to stay alive.

The children of self-absorbed addicted celebrities are usually forgotten or, at best, paid attention to when it makes for good copy. When Charlie Sheen went off the deep end, his children were in the spotlight long enough for the tabloids to ponder what they were being exposed to by Charlie and his Goddesses, and so that we could all watch as the children were loaded into a car and taken from the actor. Conversely, when Christina Aguilera starts showing up at parties drunk or gets arrested for being hammered while her boyfriend is picked up for a DUI, nobody bothers to mention the 3-year-old son that she has at home.

Whether its Brittney Spears not bothering to put her son in a car seat, or Michael Jackson holding a baby over a railing, or even Catherine Zeta Jones lighting up while pregnant, many celebrities have brought their children into the public consciousness in a negative way. However, there are plenty of other narcissistic actors and musicians that continue on with their self-indulgent lifestyles, and all the while their children are just an afterthought. Certainly, there are celebrities who are decent parents. Sure, they rely on nannies and other caretakers to do much of the heavy lifting, but they try to set a decent example. However, the cult of celebrity still holds that the “talent” can do whatever they want – has the right to do whatever they want – and what happens to anyone else is strictly secondary. Even if that means their children get caught up in the chum.

However, just because the moronic behavior is excused by the various scumbags and sycophants that enable these people does not make it acceptable. Nor does it excuse the populace that looks at the real lives of the celebrities and their families as though it’s a soap opera. The public figure might have given up a certain right to privacy with their career choice – and, to be fair, many of them treat attention as though it’s more addictive than heroin – but we, as a society, make the choice to be entertained by the spectacle. In that way, we’re all enablers and the screwed up childhoods that are being journeyed by the privileged offspring of today’s celebrities falls in some ways at our feet. When they grow to be the next generation of Hiltons or Kardashians, we’ll have the stain of their High School stupidity, insipidness and whoring on our collective hands.

But, hey, at least we’ll have plenty of choices for reality TV shows.

Don’t know which Karaoke Player is the best for your Family? There are basically 2 kinds of players you can choose from, each offering it’s own pros and cons. Here is a brief description of each type of machine, outlining the good and the bad for each type:

Stand Alone Machines:

Stand Alone type players have their own built in speaker systems and sometimes come equipped with built in TVs. This is the most popular type as they are found in most mass retail stores. Stand Alone Machines also tend to have fewer features and not much power(MP3 hookups tend to be one of the more recent additions). The Main benefit of these players is the ease of use and connectivity and portability. As I said earlier though, these machines don’t have a lot of power and will probably not be great for parties. Stand Alone Machines have been geared more and more towards children and have become more toy than karaoke player in recent years. A set of audio outputs can make these players a lot more versatile, as you can hook into larger systems when you need more power. Here is the rundown if you are looking for a Stand Alone Karaoke Machine.

***Look for audio outputs on these machines so that you can hook up to larger systems if you need, make sure the microphones work with these outs as well.

***Digital Key Controls are not just for professionals. They really help the average singer in that they can make those tough notes a lot easier to hit.

***Built in screens are cool, but not as important as a USB/SD Card Inputs, or at least an MP3 Hookup. You already have 3 TV’s, do you really need another tiny one?

There are Premium Stand Alone Karaoke Machines available, offering a lot of features and more power, but you definatley pay a premium price. Because these units have been designed for professional use, they usually offer way too many features for the average enthusiast to easily afford. Because of the added weight and features, these machines also tend to run a higher defective rate.

Component Karaoke Machine:

These players look like DVD machines with Mic inputs. The great thing about these players is that they will hook into any amp and speaker system, as long as it has an RCA audio input , these players can connect to it (some of the new players also offer HDMI hookups for easy, one cable connection to newer Home Theatre systems). This means you can customize your power to your needs, or use any system you already own. These Players easily connect to: Home theatre systems, Home Stereos, Computer Speakers, even most portable speakers (Boom Boxes). These players also usually offer upgraded features such as USB/SD card Inputs, recording, scoring, and echo functions for your microphones, digital key control and usually a remote as well. These Karaoke Machines are also smaller and ship easier, running a significantly lower defective rate than Stand Alone players.

Here are a few things to look for in a Component Karaoke Machine:

***Look for USB/SD Card inputs. In a world of digital media options, it’s best to have a player that will play digital files as well.

***If your Home Theatre supports it, look for a machine that offers HDMI for even easier conectivity. It helps prevent the mess of wires in the back of your TV and Stereo.

***An inexpensive and better alternative to stand alone players is to find an inexpensive player and a set of multimedia speakers.(I recently spotted a 13″ tube style TV in a box store for $30).

***For those looking to upgrade, consider a Component with an amp and speaker system, package sets

Classical guitarists, have you ever wondered whether the Flamenco position would be beneficial for you as a classical guitar player? As both a classical and a Flamenco guitar instructor, I have received many questions over the years about what variations of the basic classical position would be feasible–and help players to achieve the highest degree of musicianship at their respective levels. As a guitar instructor, I welcome questions from students who seek innovative ways to achieve more on the classical guitar. Their questions demonstrate their passion for the guitar, a key ingredient in a successful student of the classical or Flamenco guitar.

At first glance, one may see the Flamenco position as “ergonomically comparable” to the traditional position on the classical guitar. Students ask, and with good reason, if the classical guitar position is used more from tradition than by the actual mechanics of playing the guitar. Is it only tradition that decrees that classical guitarists not use the Flamenco position while playing?

This query raises a great point. The key to the answer, however, is the terms “ergonomically comparable.” The difference between classical and flamenco positions, as we will soon see, is indeed a key ingredient in both sound production and in the guitarist’s posture.

From an ergonomic perspective, there are a couple of disadvantages of using a Flamenco position compared to the traditional classical guitarist’s position while playing the guitar.

First of all, the traditional Flamenco position is not as ergonomically balanced and symmetrical as the classical posture. If classical players use the Flamenco position to play the classical guitar, it could cause long-term health issues such as repetitive stress injury (RSI), tendinitis, other diseases related to spinal misalignment and nerve compression.

Secondly, in the Flamenco position, your right arm is one of the three areas of your body: the thigh, the chest, and the right arm) that stabilize your guitar. Since, in the Flamenco position, you use your right arm to stabilize the guitar, you will not be able to use a broad spectrum of tone colors as you could in the traditional classical guitar position. Tone colors are one of the key factors that distinguish great musicianship in classical guitarists. one of the most important aspects of classical guitar musicianship–tone colors–as efficiently as you could if using the classical position when holding the guitar. Classical guitarists produce tone colors, such as tasto and ponticello, by moving their right forearm across the guitar’s strings between the bridge and over the soundhole.

We are always amazed at the insight of our students to come up with such great questions. As always, we strive to pass on information to a wide audience to help more people achieve a higher standard of technique as they play the guitar.

Harmonica Lessons and Instruction
Protecting Yourself and Your CD

Now that the recording is done, where do you go? Even though you have all the right mixes together and everything is placed in the correct place, there are still other things to put into the right area before you are able to completely finish your CD. Knowing what to do after the recording can help you to move in the right direction towards a successful CD.

The first thing that you want to do after you have completed your CD is to send it to the copyright office. This will stop others from stealing your music and will allow you to keep a track record of what you have put together. Typically, you will need to fill out a copyright sheet for the office as well as send a copy of your CD with the copyright fee. This will last for a certain number of years before you need to re-register your copy.

After this step, you can set up a variety of different ways to keep your music licensed and registered. One of the options to look into is ASCAP or BMI. Both of these areas keep track of music that is composed by individuals. If these musical pieces are ever performed, the area will send a performance fee for the music that is composed. If your CD isn’t finished yet, you should consider registering with either one of these groups for musician rights and you should make sure that you send them all music that you have done so that a track record can be kept.

The third area that should be considered is royalties for others using your music. For instance, if someone hears your song and wants to use it on their own compilation recording, you will want to get royalty rights. There are certain businesses, such as Harry Fox, that keep track of your music as a publishing license, and allow you to gain royalty fees for every CD that is sold on someone else’s compilation.

Along these lines are different licensing options that are being used. Typically, these will become an important factor if your music is used for something like a television show or for a band. Every time someone uses your song for mixed media, they become responsible for paying you a mechanical licensing fee as well as a royalty fee. This means that you still own copyright to the music, but are allowing them to ‘lease’ the song for their own purposes. Typically, ASCAP or BMI can help you to keep track of your CD songs that are played in other places, as long as it is registered through them and the individual goes through this company in order to get the proper requests completed for the music.

After this point of registration, you have options of how you want to proceed with preparing your music, dependent on what you need. With the growth of technology, are two main ways in which you can approach your CD sales. The first is through the Internet and the second is through physical distribution. The physical distribution can include publishing areas such as on demand printing as well as online portals or physical areas that are able to support the music that is moving through their area.

If you move into digital distribution, you can look into several areas that consolidate sales. This is typically done through a space such as CD Baby, SnoCap or IODA. Both of these will take your CD music, turn it into MP3s and distribute it to online spaces and jukeboxes that will play them. All you will need to do is register your CD or your music through this area for a small fee, and allow the portal to handle the rest for you.

No matter what type of music you are piecing together and no matter what your intent is for use, you should always consider the options for legalities and claims. In the long run, this will help you to not only approach your CD as a product that you are selling, but will also provide you with more options for getting your music into the public eye.

There is one important question I would like to discuss with you: why do girls decide to play music? This decision doesn’t come directly during the concert, of course. It usually arises before one learns to play an instrument. Unfortunately, girls tend to create rock-groups right after learning a few quints and speed up to play so-called “concerts”. As beginners they look very static on a stage. They only think about not missing a finger on a string, and do not take into consideration their scenic appearance or active stage movements!

I’m not going to explain that you should first become a good player able to make good arrangements, write good texts and get this feel for the rhythm (can be useful), then consider the band image, vision, and possibly a theatrical show. I understand that most of you do not have time for all this. Therefore, I will hold a discussion about a stage, a concert look, and a show in general.

There is another side of the topic. If a girl can play well she performs the musical material of a high quality (in which nobody doubts) and presents a dignified sound. If a girl plays well she may consider anything else a rubbish. This is how all the complexes appear: “I will not get up, I will not lie down, my hands are thick, I have square head and fat legs.”

Have you ever heard of such men? Those generally do not have problems. They can wear the garbage they handed down this morning on a stage . But, after all, the most important difference between a girl and a guy on stage is just that you are taken first as a Woman: shape, color of eyes, brest, waist are important. The public reaction on girls with musical instruments is always specific.

The conclusion is to consider a stage costume, your style, image and habits that you are going to surprise an audience with. So that you do not look stupid and ridiculous. Decide an image for yourself. The image is usually emphasizes your inner peace. Girl (unless she is a talented actress, of course), who feels like a queen, would never be able to play a ridiculous and stupid role. You have to be yourself!

So, we are dressed for now. What’s more? You should be seen on the stage. Remember not just putting your hands on microphone stands and putting various pieces of rope on clothing that move. Try to make broader, exaggerated movements.

Important! Even if you are a super musician, you will not be interesting to the audience just standing without any movements and emotions on your face. An action is expected from an artist. If a band on a stage is frozen in marble statues – the work of artists around the world begins. Everything must be worked out well.

Be prepared for the fact that society will never accept that you differ from it even a little. Whether it’s appearance, clothing or doing some things that are not natural for your sex.

It is very important to be able to communicate with the public. They need you to talk. It also comes with experience, it is also an art. There is a person who can talk to the audience for 40 minutes without playing a single note, and you like zombies, get away from the concert in a full delight. The public should feel your energy, and you, respectively give yourself to your audience.

I want to give one more advice. See more video clips from your favorites. Even more concert clips. Make some movements, try to repeat the same choreography: put your foot on the monitor, make an elegant departure on your knees and turn a rack above your head effectively. You need training no less than body-builders. And if you add all this and more to your performances I promise a success of an event is guaranteed!

It is relaxing to listen to songs while you’re with your friends. But if you could learn the song and play it on a guitar, would you do that instead? Listening to guitar songs on the radio is a way of practicing and expanding your knowledge listening to the strums and beats. This technique is called “playing by ear” and you’ll need to know the basics of guitar playing before hand. It requires a lot of practice and patience to enhance your skills.

Your musical knowledge will grow listening to different varieties of songs. In your spare time practice with some recordings, with music sheets and a song book and start to memorize some the notes. This way you can extend your play by ear knowledge. Surf the internet for videos of your favorite artist and look for other videos that show how to play songs with an acoustic guitar. If your just starting to play guitar look at videos and songs that stress strumming and picking. Mix the patterns of strumming and stabilize the rhythm, this will help master it easier.

As you go deeper and deeper into your learning of playing a guitar, by all means keep practicing. It might be overwhelming at first but just keep practicing. Your gonna make mistakes but just keep at it and your mistakes will correct themselves. Strumming is achieved with continuous practice so don’t get frustrated, continue to pursue your dream.

Your progression will go to the next level with time which will lead you into songs with multiple chords. You can play a song that you already know to counterbalance this and hide behind the normal patterns of strumming. If you have confidence in your skills you can go up a level and tackle the challenge of continuously shifting the patterns and chords.

The most important thing to remember is to have fun when you learn songs on a guitar. You will become frustrated but don’t give up. If you really want to become an expert on guitar, it takes practice and patience. Keep at it!

It is definitely possible to take easy guitar lessons for free. Here you find four easy lessons for beginners to start learning playing guitar.

First of the Easy Guitar Lessons: Holding your guitar.

The preferred position is playing with the guitar is on your leg. Strumming is done with your dominant hand so put the guitar to the side of your dominant hand. You should keep your guitar close and straight. What is quite normal is that your guitar will slide off your leg while you are playing. This normally happens cause you want to look on the frets to see you fingers placement – and while this bending your back. But you should try to avoid bad habits while starting. That´s why I say: keep the guitar close and straight.

Second of the Easy Guitar Lessons: Knowing the chord chart.

You will learn three chords today. For all of them focus on the four first frets of your guitar. You don´t know what are frets ? Just the spaces between the metal vertical lines. On a diagram the six strings are represented as 6 horizontal lines. And the fingers are numbered 1-3. Number 1 is your index finger.

Third of the Easy Guitar Lessons: Learning 3 basic chords.

Let´s first focus on the D chord. Put finger 1 and 2 on the 2nd fret. While finger 1 is placed on the 3rd string, finger 2 has to sit on the 1st string. And last but not least your 3rd Finger has to find its place on the 2nd string on the 3rd fret.

After this let´s have a look on your 2nd chord to learn: E chord. This one is an ideal chord for beginners. Position Finger 1 on the 3rd string on the 1st fret. Then put your finger 2 and 3 on the 2nd fret with finger 2 on the 5th string and finger 3 on the 4th string.

The 3rd chord you´r learning today can be played in different ways. You will first learn the basic way – which makes it one of the easiest chords to learn. Finger 1-3 are put onto the 2nd fret. On the 4th string you place finger 1, on the 3rd string finger 2 and the last finger on the 2nd string.

Forth of the Easy Guitar Lessons: How to strum and change chords.

With the help of the first 3 chords you just learned, you are now able to play some basic tunes. You just need one more step: the strumming. This is one of the fundamentals you have to learn. You do it by using your dominant hand and moving it up and down. Keep always moving. But never rush. You will want to start with this slowly and after a while you will have it perfected. Always start slowly and then gradually speed up. Try to play only these strings you have your fingers on. Then try changing chords. You should pick one of your favorite slow songs and practice changing and strumming with this.

Enjoy it !
